From the top of Mt. Oso you can look across the agriculturally rich San Joaquin Valley
and see the ski slopes on the Western face of the Sierra Nevada Mountains.

looking east from mt.oso towards the sierra nevada range
If you look really close at the center of the picture you will see another 2 peaks
which also are big communication sites for the Sacramento,Ca area.
Those peaks are known as
Mt. Diablo.
Landmarks that can be seen from here include:
Rancho Seco , a now defunct nuclear power plant which used to power parts of Sacramento ,
also the grainery silos near M.J.C. , The big 9'th St. Hotel in Modesto.( Double-Tree )
Normally there are thick definable layers of smog ( we need to get those pictures scanned)
but on the day this picture was taken it was a sea of clouds as the valley was socked in with fog all day.
It's now dusk and the fog remains thick, blanketing the hilly canyon behind Mt. Oso.
What a beautiful sunset to accompany the long dusty trip to the site.
Here is the elusive and hard to photograph Radio Engineer. Normally a day creature ,
sometimes they are known to travel to far away transmitter sites in the middle of the night.
This is a rare photograph, it is said the creature was inspecting the guy wire at the time
this picture was secretly taken.
