"People are crying in the hallways."
That's what one Clear Channel employee,
who still had a job, said
about last Thursday's job terminations.
Thursday was the day that Clear Channel radio,
the largest radio conglomerate in America,
got around to a
mass firing in San Diego.
After similar episodes in Los Angeles,
Houston, Chicago, New York, and Philadelphia,
the company (which has 1200 stations nationwide,
owns or operates 11 stations locally, and
under employs 283 full- and part-time
employees in San Diego) fired 12 of those employees.
The station did not issue a release on the firings.
* Longtime newsperson * Allison Ross was released from KOGO.
Steve West ,who started in San Diego at 91X in *1983*,
was jettisoned from his afternoon gig on the Mix 95.7.
CheapChannel Profit over people (tm)
