The clasic rock station running 'texas-rock' stoped
Sunday morning ( 8-17-1997) around 3 am
vandals hack sawed the south east guy anchor of the 352 foot tall
KVFX 96.7 fm radio tower near Manteca,Ca.
The tower fell across the transmitter trailer on Brady road., no one was injured. at this cheap channel site this time....
KVFX was (then ) just bought by 'cap-star' radio corp. CRB , then
Pacafic star,AMFM then SFX then clear channel, ,,
The station hoped to return to the air ASAP .
the towers long gone but the station keept paying the rent for years....
the station went from voice track country to voice track Jammin oldies about 2-3-99

Ex-KYLD-FM , San Francisco jock gets jail time for prank.
Joseph Lopez – an ex-employee of
Clear Channel
's KYLD-FM – was
sentenced to 45 days in San Mateo County Jail for his participation in
an on air stunt. Lopez and KYLD-FM intern Graham Herbert were arrested
on August 30, 2000 for dressing up as escaped convicts and knocking on
residents doors in Millbrae, CA. Both were charged with falsely causing an
emergency to be reported. Herbert pleaded guilty to a lesser misdemeanor of
disturbing the peace and received a year probation. Lopez received 45 days in
county jail and must pay restitution – about $1,000 – to Millbrae police.
